Why hello long time no talk!
I thought I’d share some amazing foodie finds from Target today!

Look how cheap they are! These are some of my favorite granola bars.  They really do taste like coconut and have 5g of protein so they’re more filling than other similar products.  I got 2 boxes because I couldn’t pass up that deal!

Addicting.  Amazing.  Really like carrot cake. Only at Target. Boo.

I needed a new tea and found this! Perfect for my breakfasts in the summer 🙂

Another outrageous deal!  I guess this is the adult form of gummy snacks.

OPI nail polish for 2 bucks!? Uh yes.. You can’t tell from the picture but it’s a really cool shade of silver.  Just another polish to add to my giant collection of probably 40 colors.

Yeah, it’s not from Target but it’s such a good deal! I got a coupon in the mail for this free travel mug! Until the end of September it’s 95 cent refills, but only on hot coffee sadly 😦 I’ll miss my iced coffee but this is such a cute deal and the mug will last longer than September.   Another reason why DD is AMAZING.

Anyways.. this weekend I saw TSWIFT!

Ed Sheeran really really impressed me.  He did a great set and now I’m listening to more of his music.  Taylor put on a fantastic show.  & yes I cried when she performed the song “All Too Well”

There were 45,000 people there and it was her 2nd show at the stadium!
I’m sad it’s over.. I got the tickets in November and I thought the day would never come!  

Besides the concert my mom and I did some serious shopping and walking.  It was a great weekend to spend with her because now I don’t live at home and I’m usually really busy!  We caught up on everything and it was great bonding.

OH! Running wise.. This happened Friday morning. It was awesome! I felt great the entire time.

This half marathon is really starting to look like a reality for me.  My goal is to try to do 8 miles tomorrow.  I’m nervous but if I have to take walk breaks that’s fine with me!

Tonight I plan on getting a solid upper body and abs workout in at the gym so my legs are rested for my long run!

Thursday Things

1. My upper foot still hurts! I’m trying to take it easy but I got  a long run on the books tomorrow 😦

2. Speed workouts kick my butt, but in a good way.  Here was mine from yesterday
.5 mile warm up
1 mile alternating jogging straightaways, sprinting curves
2 800’s
2 400’s
.25 mile cool down followed by 2 sets of 10 pushups, 20 squats and 30 crunches.

Quick but schweatyyyyyyy.

3. TAYLOR IS SATURDAY. I’m sorry, I’m only a little excited.  I’m spending the weekend there and our hotel is right by lots of cool shops, restaurants and bars.  Should be a good time!

4. I am determined to finish True Blood so I am all caught up for the new season Sunday! At times the show is a little too weird for my liking but I’m still engrossed in it.  I also am slowly reading the books but they are not really similar at all to the show.. as per usual.

5. For awhile now I’ve realized I focus too much on time when it comes to eating.  I don’t eat until a certain time even if I’m starving.  This isn’t healthy for multiple reasons and I shouldn’t focus on the clock to eat.  I need to be more intuitive but I don’t know if I’m up for that “intuitive eating challenge” I’ve seen among the blogging world.

What I Ate Wednesday

I really need to get better at taking photos of my eats but here is what I ate yesterday!

Yes, my unappealing overnight oats with strawberry slices.
So filling and so easy to make. A win in my book.

Can’t forget my beloved cup of tea.  I rotate between Sugar Sleigh Ride (bought a boat ton so I have it throughout the year!), Orange Spice and Vanilla Chai.

I usually bring a tumbler of iced coffee to work too.  Although I forgot mine today so I might walk to a local coffee shop on Main Street during my break for some.

Taco salad.  Yes I assure you there is taco meat and cheese on the bottom.  This was my 1st time cooking tacos and it was a success.  Basically I’m just using the leftovers from the tacos my friend and I both ate last night for dinner 🙂

I always have an abudance of sncaks while at work.  I am a total grazer.
Yesterday I had an apple, bag of veggies and a plain greek yogurt with sliced strawberries.  I believe a few honey wheat pretzel sticks were eaten as well 🙂

Baked chicken, sweet potato fries and cooked spinach. Mmm! Simple and easy yet delicious.

Unpictured bowl of cereal.  I mixed Life Brown Cinammon Sugar flavor with Special K Cinammon Pecan and unsweetened almond milk.  I also had a cup of peppermint tea!

Workout: 4 mile run (Check!)

Today I’m excited.  After work my mom is coming up to visit and help me hang up photos etc in my apartment!  We are going to a delicious local diner for dinner too.  I’m hoping I can squeeze in a quick speed workout before she comes because the sun is actually out today and it is beautiful!

Training Tuesday

Oh hello all! Since I have been away for awhile, I thought today would be a good time to discuss my fitness/health goals for over the summer.

1. Drink more water
I can honestly go a whole day only drinking a drink at lunch and dinner.  Awful, I know.  I’ve been trying to up my water intake.. and I think it’s working due to the fact I went pee 6 times in the 1st 3 hours of work yesterday.
I’ve been trying to have tea in the morning, coffee, and 2 camelbaks full of water each day. So far during the week I’ve been doing great on this! The weekend.. not so much.

2. Cut out processed food. 
This has been a goal of mine for awhile and I am happy to say I really have cut down.  I probably only eat pretzels, popcorn or a granola bar every day.  The majority of my food is fruits, veggies, dairy and meat. Whoo! (This leads to a somewhat high grocery bill though.. and my college budget makes this hard)

1. Train for a half marathon
I’ve been contemplating running one for about 2 months now.  There is one in Rochester I did a relay for last year and I’m aiming for that one again.  I know I need to get up to 10 miles on a long run in order to do so.  I’ve been bumping up mileage, putting in speed workouts and slowly increasing the length of my long runs.  This week I’m aiming for 7. AHHH.

2. Keep up with weight-lifting.
I love lifting weights.  If you look at photos from me a year ago, my arms are SO much more toned now.  Since I’m trying to focus on running my weight sessions have only been occurring maybe 2x a week.  It’d be nice if I could get up to 3x but we shall see…

3. Avoid injury
My upper left foot has kind of hurt on and off for almost a week now.  It started hurting after my 6.5 mile long run last week.  I think it was because I tied that particular shoe too tight on my foot.  RUNNERS! Is this why or is it something else?! Help!

Marvelous Monday!

Ah long time, NO BLOG!
Between classes, work, sorority things, having a social life and exercising… yes blogging fell to the wayside.  However followers.. I have read your blogs religiously every day still 🙂

This summer I’m hoping to get back on to the blogging train.  I have a desk job that allows me to work on blogging things!  It’s basically the job I have during the school year with higher pay and normal hours.  8-4 M-Th and 8-12 Fridays! How perfect are those hours? Not complaining one. bit.  (I guess that’s my first marvelous thing?)

Anyway.. let’s get on with the main show shall we?

Marvelous is.. free donuts. & Dunkin coffee. (Fellow dunkin lovers, get the app! They have awesome coupons on it such as 1 dollar medium iced coffees )

Marvelous is spending a rainy afternoon shopping with friends. & Buying sundresses in hopes of summer actually acting like summer!

Marvelous is this yogurt.  I usually only buy Greek yogurt but this flavor sounded appealing to me.  I’m glad I tried it.  It’s just the right amount of sweetness and reminds me of summer!

Marvelous is kayaking for the first time on the canal! I’ve never been kayaking before and had a blast!  My arms aren’t even that sore.

Marvelous is a pit stop during kayaking for ice cream. Yummmm.

Recipe: 1/2 cup oats, 2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt, 1/2 mashed banana, cinammon and in the morning I added cocoa powder and sliced strawberries.  Delicious and SO FILLING.

Marvelous is Old Navy workout gear on sale.  I ended up taking this tank top off a mannequin.  I wanted it so bad!  It fits awesome and I rocked it on a quick, hot 3 mile run last night.

Healthy Living Survey

What did you eat for breakfast?

Quaker Oats Weight Control-Cinnamon flavor made with unsweetened almond milk and a scoop of Cinnamon raisin swirl PB!
Also chopped up half a banana to put in the oatmeal and half to eat by itself.

How much water do you drink a day?
Not as much as I should.  I’m awful.  I never actually FEEL thirsty but I know that’s no excuse!

What is your favorite current workout?
BodyPump! I love the strength training but it’s so fast paced it feels like a bit of cardio too.

How many calories do you eat a day?
No idea now.  I used to obsessively use myfitnesspal to count my calories but now I have achieved my weight goal and stopped.  Honestly, it was unhealthy to be so obsessive over numbers.  I try now to eat when I’m hungry and what my body wants.

What are your favorite healthy snacks?
Apple slices with PB, hummus and veggies, popcorn!

What do you eat for lunch?
A lot of times it depends on what the dining hall is offering.  Most of the time it is either a huge salad, chicken breast with veggies and fruit on the side or a wrap/sandwich along with veggies and fruit

What is your favorite body part to strength train?
Triceps! I’ve actually noticed a difference and love the burn.

What is your least favorite body part to strength train?
Back.  The moves can be awkward, the machines seem to hurt.. yeah..

What are your “bad” food cravings?
No such thing as a bad food craving.  But unhealthy?  Anything sweet.  Biggest sweet tooth EVER!  I also tend to crave greasy pizza after drinking certain beverages.. 😉

Do you take vitamins or supplements?
I take a centrum everyday along with fiber supplements.  If I’m eating a dairy product I also take Lactaid.

How often do you eat out?
During school? Rarely. I’m too busy!  On average though maybe once or twice a week.  Nothing extreme.

Do you eat fast food?
Depends on what you mean by fast food.  I don’t ever eat at McDonald’s, Wendy’s etc. because their food literally makes me ill now.  However I do love Subway, Chipotle and Panera!

Who is your biggest supporter?
Family and friends!

Do you have a gym membership?
No. It’s free at my school and we have a brand new fitness center and indoor track! Win.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
7-9.  Usually more like 8-9 but schoolwork can get in the way of that…

Do you have a “cheat” day?
No.I eat what I want, within moderation.  That I believe is the key to success.

Do you have a workout buddy?
Not everyday! About half of my workouts I do on my own.  The other half, especially long runs, my suitemate Anna tags along and I love it! She keeps me motivated to workout on days I don’t want to.

What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?
I’ve lost weight, toned up, feel better, less digestive woes!

What was the last healthy thing you did?
P90x Shoulders and arms workout!


Goodness… the semester just started and already I have no life!
My days have consisted of class, work, gym and recruitment for my sorority among other things.
I thought today I’d give you guys a little look into what a typical day is like for me and also tell you about all my classes.  While they all are time-consuming and demanding, I love them all!

Typical day
7:20-Wake up. Get ready in the outfit I got out the night before, do my hair and makeup
7:45-Out the door.  Grab my Special K Protein shake, premade Iced Coffee and apple slices for class
10:45-11-Feel guilty about the Earth and print out tons of papers.  2 of my classes are very reading intensive, causing heavy printing 😦
11:15-Lunch with some sisters.  It usually consists of a few of these items: grilled chicken, grilled turkey sandwich, fruit, salad, soup
12:15-3-Class! Wishing I had a second cup of joe..
3:15-Get back to dorm, WORK OUT!
5:15-Dinner with the roomies
6-whenever-Homework, sorority meetings, relaxing

I feel like I go non-stop all day. Oh the life of a college student.

Yesterday at the gym I did 3 miles on the treadmill and then a leg/ab workout.  I thought I’d share it with you guys

2×15 wide stance squats holding heavy dumbbell
2X15 narrow stance squats holding heavy dumbbell
15 elevated lunges each side on workout bench
20 lunges each leg (normal I guess?)
2×15 on each leg, 1 leg deadlifts (held 15 lb weights in each hand)
15 on each side donkey kicks
15 on each side outer thigh leg lifts
15 on each side inner thigh leg lifts

250 different crunches of whatever I thought of!

It only takes 20-30 minutes tops but I feel it’s super effective and I feel totally accomplished afterwards.
Sadly.. after my workout I started to feel under the weather.  I have a sore throat today, sinus headache, some weird chest pains and my stomach has felt off occasionally.  I’m sure it’s a little touch of something but I hope it goes away ASAP!

Anyways.. here’s the classes I’m taking this semester
1. Developmental assessment-a nursing pre-req.  Basically a dumbed-down version of psychology.  The teacher is very interesting though and she has a degree in what I ultimately want to do!
2. Junior Colloquium-I’m in the honors program at my college.  This is a 1 credit class where we start planning our honors thesis.  SCARY! I’m thinking of doing something with disordered eating habits and girl’s levels of self esteem.
3. American Literature-taking this class for fun.  So far, the teacher has been amazing!  The book we had to read too was very enjoyable. Plus it’s a hybrid class so we meet every other week for 1.5 hours. Pretty awesome!
4. Motivation-a Psych elective.  It’s at 8 AM but the teacher is very engaging.  Or my coffee is doing it’s job…
5. Research Methods-we learn the research process and ultimately conduct our own research experiment.  I’m a little scared of this class!
6. Early Modern Monarchy-a history elective.  I’m the only non-history major and there’s even grad students in the class!  This is my most challenging class but I LOVE the subject material so it doesn’t even seem like work to me 🙂
